In my first response, the points that made the most sense to me are that the jury selection process gives people judicial power, it is a way for the citizens to take part in the judicial process and it improves the probability of fairness for the accused person. The position was supported convincingly using appropriate resources.
In my second response, the points that made the most sense to me are that; the jury selection process is easily compromised by the media and the jury’s personal beliefs, (The People of the State of California vs. Orenthal James Simpson, ten jurors were discharged, some due to irregularities), the jury selection is indirect discrimination since persons are selected subject to holding certain characteristics and the jury selection should be more voluntary than mandatory (no fines should be imposed for non-participation). The position was supported convincingly using appropriate resources.
