In my first response, the points that made the most sense to me are that time and resources are saved, the execution of and checks and balances on Plea Bargaining are vital. Moreover, the motive behind the Plea Bargain should be pure and specific cases should not have an option of a plea bargain. The position was supported convincingly using appropriate resources.
In my second response, the points that made the most sense to me are that; accused persons are surrendering some of their rights, e.g., fair trial and appeal and coerced to make plea bargains for lesser sentences or dropped charges. In addition, too much power has shifted from the judges to the prosecutors and Public defenders opt for Plea Bargaining since its faster notwithstanding their client’s interests. The position was supported convincingly using appropriate resources.
