Accused | TARA STEPHANIE GRANT |
Date or period | From on or about December 2020
Place | Magistrate Court of W. Australia
Description | Perjury
The accused frivolously filed a Family Violence Restraining order (Case No. MI RO 165/2020) and cancelled the application on November 25, 2021, without giving any reasons for the cancellation. She knowingly and intentionally lied to the court that she was the next of kin to the complainant’s deceased son. There was no family relationship existing between complainant and the accused. Besides, she was not a spouse of the deceased. She also lied that the Complainant had cyberstalked her. The accused had blocked the complainant on her FaceBook page and there it was not possible to claim she was being stalked. The acccused also lied that the complainant behaved in a way that would cause one to have the threat of violence. The Complainant has text messages between the accused and herself that demonstrate that the Complainant and her family were very nice to the accused and never threatened to harm her in any way. The accused exhibited fraudulent conduct when she claimed that the deceased made a will. As the mother to the deceased, the complainant knew that the deceased did not intend to make a will. The accused knew that the deceased was worth a lot of money, so she was determined to obtain this money at all costs. This shows how around 16 hours before the deceased died, the accused organized for 2 lawyers to come to the hospital; and she gave the deceased handwritten notes apparently to coerce him to make the will. This shows how she exhibited bullyish behavior towards the deceased when he was on his death bed. The complainant has attached pertinent evidence in support of the charge herein.
