I am a student requesting reinstatement to F-1 student status. I am currently enrolled at Academy of Art University in [North Mankato/Faribault] for full-time study during the Fall semester. I understand that I have failed to maintain my full-time F-1 student status and would like to explain the circumstances, beyond my control, which prevented me from maintaining my F-1 student status.
During the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, studies were affected generally. The events that led to my loss of status occurred during the 2020 Fall Semester and 2021 Spring Semester. I am not well conversant with the English language which is dominantly used in school due to my ethnicity therefore, I was left behind in regards to my course. In school, I have no friends to assist me with the language or with general studies hence it was hard for me to catch up. I was unable to finish my assignments on time like I used to. I became afraid of going to classes due to the unfolding of these events which affected me mentally. Due to the failure in class as a result of not going to classes, the school canceled my legal status.
I have not been employed while outside of my F-1 student status.
Your consideration of my request for reinstatement will be greatly appreciated. I would very much like to continue my education in the United States and complete my degree, graduate in [year] with my [major] degree.
