SHOMARI PARSONS,Complainant,vs.ADMIRAL INSURANCE COMPANY,Respondent. Case No.: Numbercomplaint

NOW COMES Shomari Parsons, Complainant, complaining of Respondent, Admiral Insurance Company, and for cause would show as follows:

  1. PARTIES
  1. Complainant Shomari Parsons is a male adult of sound mind and a resident of Flat 1304 Hopgood Tower 15, Pegler Square, London.
  2. Respondent Admiral Insurance Company is a company in the business of insurance with headquarters at Cardiff, United Kingdom.
  1. FACTS
  1. Complainant insured his vehicle, a 2013, 63, Land Rover, Range Evoque, 2.2SD4 (190bhp) 4WD Dynamic LUX Hatchback 5d Automatic Transmission, 9 speed, Diesel, 4-wheel drive permanent, 2179cc, registration number Y5HOM (the “Vehicle”) with Respondent. One of the perils that Respondent insured Complainant is theft.
  2. On [DATE], Complainant’s car was stolen at the car park in Complainant’s apartment building.
  3. Complainant made a stolen vehicle report at [POLICE STATION/PRECINCT] on [DATE] and the police commenced investigations. After [DURATION], the police could not find Complainant’s vehicle. 
  4. Complainant went to Respondent to claim payout for his stolen vehicle.
  5. Complainant expected to receive a payout in the amount of £[AMOUNT]. However, Respondent offered to pay Complainant £[AMOUNT]. 
  6. Complainant went to Respondent’s offices to dispute the amount offered to him, the deductions from the settlement and the valuation of his vehicle.
  7. Respondent only addressed the deduction from the settlement and declined to give Complainant his payout of £[AMOUNT]. Respondent also declined to increase the valuation of Plaintiff’s vehicle.
  1. ARGUMENT
  1. In a letter to Complainant dated 20/04/2021, Respondent informed that it would not be giving Complainant the payout he requested.
  2. Respondent claimed that Complainant provided inaccurate information at the time of obtaining the insurance policy.
  3. Complainant understands that in such a scenario, Respondent is supposed to calculate the correct value of Complainant’s vehicle, add the excess, then charge Complainant the excess amount. Instead, Respondent opted to cover only 35% of Complainant’s vehicle and pay only £[AMOUNT].
  4. Despite multiple requests, Respondent has declined to calculate the value of Complainant’s vehicle, add the excess amount, and subsequently charge Complainant that amount. 
  1. PRAYER FOR RELIEF

REASONS WHEREFORE, Complainant respectfully requests the Financial Ombudsman Service to grant him the following reliefs:

  1. Direct Respondent to calculate the value of Complainant’s vehicle, add the excess amount and charge it on Complainant;
  2. Award such equitable relief as may be appropriate under the circumstances; and
  3. Award such further relief as the Financial Ombudsman Service deems necessary and proper.
