 Babies born weighing less than 2500 grams are said to be low weight births. According to Los Angeles County linked Birth Data (2016), low birth weight births were at 8%, 4% and 7% in Campton, Community and Los Angeles County respectively. Notably, infant deaths is defined as deaths occurring within the first year of life. Reports indicated that 13.0%, 13.3% and 11.6% of adults smoke cigarettes in SPA, Los Angeles County and California respectively. 31.9%, 31.5% and 32.6% of adults report binge drinking during the past year in SPA, Los Angeles County and California respectively.  27.9%, 27.3% and 26.3% of teens reported to having ever taken an alcoholic drink in SPA, Los Angeles and California respectively. 28.5%, 15.2% and 13.2% of teens reported to have tried illegal drugs including marijuana, cocaine, sniffing glue or others in SPA, Los Angeles County and California respectively. 7.7%, 10.2% and 9.2% of teens reported to have been using marijuana in past year (The Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital, 2017). Additionally, 27,280 arrests for drug offences in Compton, CA in 2019. The Service Planning Area 6, or SPA 6, serves the communities of Athens, Compton, Crenshaw, Florence, Hyde Park, Lynwood, Paramount, and Watts.

Deaths from suicide and drug use

According to Los Angeles County Linked Death data and Henderson demographic services, population estimates between 2012 and 2016 there are 4.5, 2.6 and 7.6 suicide deaths per 100,000 population in Compton, Best performing city and Los Angeles County respectively. Moreover, there is 4.5, 3.2 and 6.6 death cases from unintentional drug overdose per 100,000 population in Compton, Best performing community and Los Angeles respectively (City and Community Health Profiles: Compton, 2018).

Such crimes include: rape, robberies, homicides, nonnegligent, murder, burglaries, assaults, motor vehicle thefts, arsons and larceny-thefts. Infertility rates 

According to National Center for Health Survey of Family, the percentage of women aged 15-49 years who were reported infertile in California between 2015 and 2017 were as follows: 8.8% (1.09) for the total married women between 15 and 49. 19.0% (3.16) for married women with 0 births and 6.5% (1.13) for married women with 1 or more births.
Rates of endometriosis

High rates of endometriosis are the most leading factor in female infertility. According to American Society for Reproductive medicine, endometriosis can be found in 24% to 50% of women who experience infertility. 10% to 20% of American women of childbearing age have endometriosis (Hamdan et al., 2015).


Common contraceptives used in Compton
